Write for us
We welcome pitches that help readers notice how movies work, from a revealing scene-level observation to a clear explanation of a craft choice. Send proposals through the Contact page.
What to pitch
Propose a focused piece about story, camera, sound, performance or editing. A strong idea has a specific subject, a clear question and a reason it will interest a general reader. Evergreen topics are especially welcome; explain the central point rather than relying on a list of films or broad claims.
A useful proposal
Include a working title, a short summary of the argument, the kind of reader the piece serves and any relevant sources or examples you plan to use. Tell us whether the idea has appeared elsewhere. A pitch is enough to start; please do not send a complete unsolicited draft.
Our process
We consider each proposal for fit, clarity and distinctiveness. We may suggest a narrower angle or ask follow-up questions. A proposal is not an acceptance, and publication arrangements are discussed before commissioned work begins.
